Siusi allo Sciliar is a 1004 m high village and area of Castelrotto’s municipality and is located between Castelrotto and Fiè allo Sciliar. The quiet and tranquil place in the middle of the plateau and on the foot of the Alpe di Siusi is generally known due to the ruin of the castle Hauenstein, in the late Middle Ages possessed by the native minnesinger Oswald von Wolkenstein.
Nowadays the “Oswald von Wolkenstein Ride” is still organized every year to commemorate this known singer and poet. This ride is a horse competition with the venues extended allover the area of the Sciliar.
But what makes Siusi allo Sciliar so attractive is the centre with its square colorful bordered by nice and pleasant restaurants, shops and hotels. And around this centre of Siusi a wonderful landscape is extending with wide meadows and woods and a fantastic view to the variety of Dolomites’ mountains, high alpine pastures and valleys.
